Zamawang is from Sulaimanyiah, Iraqi Kurdistan. She came to America as a political asylum in 1997. She fled Kurdistan due to the atrocities of the Saddam Hussein regime. As a young girl living in Kurdistan, in northern Iraq, Zamawang was under constant attack (including chemical attacks) by Saddam Hussein and other terrorist organizations. This experience makes her appreciate even the little things, not taking anything for granted, and most importantly, taking advantage of every opportunistic moment.
