Colonel LeAnne C. Moore is Chief, Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction, Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington D.C. Colonel Moore is responsible for integration, advocacy, guidance and policy regarding the Air Force Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Enterprise.
Colonel Moore graduated from Lafayette College in 1990, receiving a Bachelor’s of French and a Minor in Russian-Soviet Area Studies. She was commissioned through Lehigh University Air Force ROTC. She holds two Master’s degrees in international business and military operational science. Colonel Moore began her career as a Communications officer. In this capacity, she delivered critical communications support to Airborne Warning & Control Systems, combat air forces, Air Force Logistics and U.S. Strategic Command Wing One. Additionally, she ensured launch communications and pre-telemetry high speed forensic imagery for more than 25 Titan IV, Atlas, Delta and Pegasus space launches and Peacekeeper and Minuteman intercontinental ballistic missile flight tests.
In 1997, Colonel Moore cross-trained into space and missile operations. Colonel Moore is a senior nuclear operations officer with 4,560 hours on strategic nuclear alert in Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles. She has held commandandservedinstaffpositionsatMajorCommand,AirStaffandJointStaff in support of nuclear operations, counter-proliferation, information operations, security and space systems development. She is a joint qualified officer with a tour at the Joint Staff, Pentagon, Washington D.C.
Prior to her current assignment, she served as Vice Commander, Air Force Inspection Agency, Air Force Inspector General, Air Force Secretariat, U.S. Air Force, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Col Moore’s awards include the Legion of Merit Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with three oak leaf clusters, Combat Readiness Medal, National Defense Service Medal with bronze star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Nuclear Deterrence Operations Service Medal with ‘N’ device. Col Moore has also been awarded the Master Missile Operations Badge, Master Space Operations Badge, and Senior Communications Badge
